As I reflect on my college experience, one particular memory stands out above all others: the day I witnessed several of my fellow students being arrested on campus. It was a surreal and unsettling experience that left a lasting impact on me as I prepared to graduate and move on to the next chapter of my life.
It all started on a seemingly normal day on campus. I was walking to class when I noticed a commotion near the student union building. As I got closer, I saw a group of police officers handcuffing several students and leading them away in squad cars. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. These were my classmates, my friends, and they were being arrested right in front of me.
I later found out that the students had been involved in a protest that had turned violent. They were charged with various offenses, including disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. It was a stark reminder of the consequences of crossing the line and breaking the law, even in the midst of a passionate cause.
The incident left me feeling conflicted and confused. On one hand, I understood the importance of standing up for what you believe in and fighting for justice. But on the other hand, I couldn’t condone the use of violence and breaking the law to make a point. It forced me to reevaluate my own beliefs and values, and to consider the potential consequences of my actions.
As I look back on that day, I realize that witnessing the arrests of my fellow students will be my final college memory. It serves as a sobering reminder of the power and responsibility that comes with being a member of a community, and the importance of upholding the rules and values that bind us together.
In the end, I am grateful for the experience, as it has taught me valuable lessons that will stay with me long after I leave college. I will carry the memory of that day with me as a reminder to always stand up for what I believe in, but to do so in a way that is peaceful, respectful, and true to my values.
